The NXT-1R offers the best combination of size and read range available. Able to mount directly on a wall or to a European switch box, this unit measures 3.25 inches high by 3.25 inches wide by .625 inches deep (8.3 cm high x 8.3 cm wide x 1.6 cm deep) and offers a unique aesthetic not found in other proximity readers.

NXT Readers provide a number of advantages over traditional Wiegand-output readers:

1. They communicate via RS-485, and so are supervised by the controller so that you always know their status
2. Cabling distance from the controller is doubled - up to 1000 ft (300m) - providing more flexibility in installation
3. Installers are able to use shielded Cat5/6 cable, thus reducing the cost of installation

NXT Readers can now be ordered as "In" or "Out" readers when used with NXT Controllers (Mercury-Powered versions), which doubles the controller's reader capacity. For "Out" readers, specify model numbers with an E at end of model number (i.e., NXT-3RE).
